Gotcha!
I think!
American highways do not disappoint in the lengths those who live near them will go to in order to entice tourists to drive down their pavement.
I love finding the quirky, off the beaten path Instagramable moments, so of course we stopped to take photos at the sign just past Hope, Arizona.
Speaking of being beyond hope, Arizona highways might be there, so for Day three of the Open Write on Ethical ELA [dot] com. I wrote a double dactyl about one Arizona road, I-40 east near the California border The photo in my Canva, however, is Arizona 72, the road where you’ll find hope and the Beyond Hope sign.
You find the best places! I think I need a Glenda-map of the fun places to stop in the Midwest. Kansas, at least, is definitely calling. And you just reminded me that I forgot about EthicalELA. Maybe I’ll catch up tomorrow. (Why do you write it with [dot]?)

That’s how you write a website when you don’t want to link. I should have written EthicalELA[dot]com, I think. Did you see my burrows on Day 18? Happy to give you my Kansas details.

Love that sign and those photos. When I used to each 4th graders about the 50 states, I had them find all the interesting and weird names of towns like Accident, Maryland; What Cheer, Iowa; Bacon Level, Alabama, and my favorite – Cookietown, Oklahoma.

Just like Rita, you got me too! And what a wonderful laugh with incredible photos and a poem for good measure. I can’t say for sure that I understood everything in the poem but I got the just of some political shenanigans.

Glenda, what a teaser! I was thinking someone was in trouble – – instead, someone in travel. You, precisely. Always finding the coolest places and taking us along. I’m glad it’s a town and not a feeling.

Such a fun, fun sign “You’re Now Beyond Hope” – this would make a great greeting card picture, for a good sarcastic letter. I love your double dactyl – that was a mind-boggling prompt, and your ‘bumpity-thumpity’ describes the writing as much as the highway.

I thought I was in for a very sad slice! I’m so glad it was just a town! These fun things are one of the reasons I love road trips. I love your poem too!

Glenda, your poem is humorous but shows a serious issue. Traveling lumpity roads is dangerous and not fun at all! Love your photos and I bet you are enjoying soaking up all that sun. I never had time to write the double dactyl yesterday, but you’ve crafted a brilliant one. Love the title, too!

HAHA you got me indeed. What a sneaky teaser – I’m in a mood today for some reason, and I was so pumped to read this “beyond hope” concept. It turns out your fun travels and fun sign were exactly what I needed this evening!

Glenda, I love that sign. It makes me think one should stay in Hope, so folks down have to move beyond hope. Such a great and funny play on words. I love your poem and I hope before November, infrastructure can get some great updates and people will credit Dark Brandon.
